Reading Specialist

At Queen of All Saints, we are committed to building a strong reading foundation for our students from the very beginning. In Kindergarten, we start with the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness program, which is taught daily to develop essential early literacy skills. This foundation seamlessly transitions into our Fundations phonics program, which is implemented from Kindergarten through 3rd grade. These foundational skills pave the way for success in our Guided Reading program, also taught in K-3, where students participate in small group lessons tailored to their individual needs. The goal of our Guided Reading program is to equip students with strategies they can use independently, helping them become fluent, confident readers.

To ensure every child reaches their full potential, student performance is regularly assessed, and instruction is individualized to meet each child's specific needs.

We are incredibly blessed to have Mrs. Kurt, our dedicated reading specialist for grades K-4, as part of our team. A reading specialist plays a crucial role in supporting students who need additional help to develop their reading skills. Mrs. Kurt works closely with both students and teachers to provide targeted instruction, helping children who may struggle with reading to overcome challenges and achieve success. Her expertise and passion for literacy make a significant impact on our students' educational journey, ensuring they receive the personalized support they need to thrive.
