Ms. Baker's Art Philosophy

Art is much more than creating a pretty picture to hang on the fridge. Sometimes the process of art making is the learning experience. Many times I teach how to use a particular skill, and then allow the students to use that idea in their own work. As long as they are showing knowledge of that new concept, they will succeed in class. I understand that every child is unique and learns in a personal way, which is why I measure art success on how each child follows directions on the project. This allows for fairly open creativity, but still a structured environment for all students.
