My name is Mrs. Katie Saunders and I am the ELA teacher for 5th grade. I have taught English, business classes, medical terminology, legal terminology, court reporting, and realtime software skills. I have taught at multiple grade schools, high schools, and colleges. I spent the last 15 years teaching in the Special School District of St. Louis County and St. Louis Community College. I received my bachelor's degree from Washington University-B.S. and my Master's of Education degree from UMSL. I am certified by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Ed in Business, Marketing, Language Arts, and Special Education.
I like to spend time with my two adult children and four grandchildren, especially in nature. I enjoy foreign travel, especially pilgrimages to Marion shrines such as Lourdes and Medjugorje. I have two dogs -- one Maltese and one Maltipoo. An odd talent that I have is that I can write on a realtime shorthand machine - although, I'm a little out of practice now!
I hope to open a world of wonder to students that can only be found in books. I also want them to improve their writing skills to become better communicators - a true necessity in today's digital world! Most importantly, I hope to draw them closer to Our Lord, Jesus Christ, who offers hope in this troubled world.
I've been a parishioner at Queen of All Saints for over 30 years! I love the friends I've made here and the spirituality we share. God is so good!
